Mission
The aviation industry is aware of the challenges posed by its emissions and is taking proactive measures. Hundreds of development teams around the world are working to make flying more sustainable and lower in emissions. Switzerland is also making an important contribution: the first fly-in for electric aircraft took place in Grenchen back in 2017. Pioneers from all over Europe came to share their experiences. The growing event has been taking place at Bern Airport since 2022. After eight successful events, the Electrifly-In has now established itself as a permanent fixture on the scene. The event for hybrid and electrically powered aircraft is unique in Europe and a highlight in the aviation event calendar.
Our mission remains clear: we promote e-mobility in aviation and help shape the future of this industry in the long term. At the same time, we act as ambassadors for the third era of aviation – from piston engines and jet engines to electric engines, alternative propulsion systems and the use of Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF).
With our event, we are creating a platform to present new technologies and developments, make them tangible for the public and impart knowledge. Test flights make it possible to demonstrate quiet and virtually emission-free flying in the sky. In the static exhibition, innovative development teams present their aircraft and the exchange of ideas is actively encouraged. In addition, the third-party exhibitor hall offers space for suppliers to present their products and services and hold in-depth technical discussions.
Our fly-in focuses on aircraft in the hybrid, electric and self-launching glider categories. Every year, the eTrophy is also flown, in which prize money totaling CHF 15,000 can be won. All prizes are donated by Waterjet AG, Aarwangen.
Another highlight is the varied symposium with specialist presentations, which attracts numerous visitors every year, including a broad specialist audience. Particularly popular is the eTALK, which highlights exciting topics with high-caliber guests every year. In addition, we are increasingly focusing on the role of Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF) to further promote the decarbonization of aviation and open up a climate-friendly perspective for the industry in the long term.
